1964 - The Year It All Began
Childers Construction was formed in 1964 when William E. Childers became a General Contractor in Tallahassee, Florida. He operated as a sole proprietorship.
1980 - The Year We Incorporated
In 1980, the Company was Incorporated as Bill Childers, Inc. D/B/A Childers Construction Company, Inc.
1994 - The Year of New Leadership
In 1994, Bill Childers retired, signaling a pivotal shift in the company's structure. This transition paved the way for Van Champion, Jr., and Sam Childers, Bill's son, to unite their strengths and expertise, delivering exceptional general contracting and construction management services to their clients. Together, they embarked on a mission to uphold the company's legacy while driving innovative solutions in the industry.
2014 - The Big 50!
As we proudly celebrated our 50th Anniversary, we were thrilled to announce the award of the Doak Campbell Stadium Renovations and Champions Club—our most ambitious project to date.
2015 - Opened The West Florida Office
Childers opened our West Florida office in Inlet Beach, led by John Daum, on Florida's Emerald Coast.
2024 - Celebrating 60 Years
As we celebrate our 60th anniversary, we proudly mark the successful completion of the New East Entry to the Capitol Complex. Our commitment to revitalizing the State Capitol continues with the installation of new windows, an advanced HVAC system, and meaningful enhancements to Waller Park. Together, these efforts reflect our dedication to preserving and improving our cherished state heritage for future generations.
